Autumn is here - time for a change in diet?

Today marks the first day of autumn. Opening the front door this morning confirmed this to me. Gone are the light early mornings and the excitement to get out into the warm sunshine. This does not have to be a bad thing though - Autumn brings with it a host of great benefits:

  • Autumn leaves and their wonderful colours
  • Pumpkins
  • Candles
  • Oversized jumpers
  • Conkers
  • Fireworks
  • Halloween
  • Getting the fire going
  • And of course, COMFORT FOOD!

Seasonal ingredients to look out for this Autumn:
• Celeriac
• Kale
• Pheasant
• Mussels
• Salsify
• Wild mushrooms
• Apple
• Beetroot
• Cabbage
• Chicory

If you are already craving the idea of moving away from your summer diet then you are in good company. We can’t wait to start making soups, stews, chutneys, risottos and other hearty food. There is something magical about cooking up a one pot dish and sitting down on a dark evening to enjoy it whilst watching a film, snuggled up under a blanket.

The change in season also means we have a wide variety of holidays coming up - Halloween, Guy Fawkes night and then the run up to Christmas. Catering for these events becomes a bigger deal year on year. Gathering of families and friends on these occasions is very popular - and so is the food that comes with it!

If you are planning an autumnal get together or are looking to hold a Halloween or Bonfire night party then please feel free to give us a call. We can cater for all dietary requirements should you need this covered.
