December: What's in season?

Today marks the beginning of a new month. So what seasonal delights can we expect from December?

This list can prove useful when planning your recipes and writing your shopping list. Using produce that is in season is not only easier to source but can also prove more cost effective.

• Cabbage
• Clams
• Clementine
• Goose
• Horseradish
• Jerusalem artichoke
• Kale
• Mussels
• Oyster
• Parsnip
• Pheasant
• Pomegranate
• Satsuma
• Swede
• Truffle
• Venison
• Wild duck

It's clear to see that a lot of the above produce will be hitting our shopping lists as it nears to Christmas. Pheasant, goose and duck are all very popular for serving on the 'big day'. Paired with vegetables such as swede, parsnip and cabbage this makes a great base for a delicious Christmas dinner.

If you aren't a fan of the traditional Christmas dinner then it might be worth taking a look at this link from BBC Good Food. Here they explore the alternative options.
